Administrative Assistant II
My name is Olga Rivera and I currently work in the College of Engineering and Computer Science. I am the Administrative Assistant II for the Computer Science Department. Worked in the department approximately 5 to 6 years. I was born in Pompano Beach, Florida (True Floridian) my parents are from Puerto Rico. PROUD PUERTO RICAN. Growing up I only spoke English but I could understand my parents when they spoke to me. Once my parents divorced, my mother as a single parent now had 3 children to take care of. I became her right hand. I started working part-time when I was only 13 years old. Years down the road, my high school was in Ft. Lauderdale and I was in NJROTC and was top cadet. Won several medals and awards. But my mother wanted me to learn my culture so she decided to send me in my junior year to Puerto Rico to learn Spanish. That was an experience on its own. Struggled but came on top. I was able to graduate high school, go to college continue to work in Motorola in Puerto Rico. Married my husband (going on 29 years) with 2 amazing kids. One daughter Aisha, whom currently graduated UCF with her Master’s degree and works here at UCF in ORC and is continuing another Master’s degree in Research Administration and my son Zamir that is an Orange County Fire Fighter and EMT. I am a caring, warm person when you get to know me. I do not like to be in the spotlight. I rather help others shine. I am a goal-oriented, multi-tasked individual, do not play any games when it comes to goals and when I want to achieve something. I love to help out when possible. I get things done. I am extremely organized. Another of my qualities, I enjoy to protect and help others. I do not like the injustices and when others take advantage or discriminate
I also was able to achieve to be selected from our department the Leadership course that was provided.
Employee of the Month for the department.
And now to be part of this amazing Task Force.
